Darién Project, Panama
Having been in direct contact with these people, we
learned a lot about the culture, their customs, and the
use of different plants and fruits the Darien Jungle has
to offer.
To help their communities, we are offering the
indigenous people employment in our manufacturing
facility.  The wild harvested borojo fruits which we are
using in our manufacturing facility are purchased, at a
fair price, directly from them, or from one of their
representatives.
Once harvested in the jungle, on the banks of the numerous rivers running through the Darien
Gap, the fruits are brought to different collection centres.  From here, they are loaded in canoes,
and then transported to the Pacific Ocean, where they are loaded on a boat heading to Panama
City.  Once in Panama port, they are delivered to the TropicsHealth® facility, where they are
sorted and processed into juices, jams, capsules, pills, as well as other tropical super fruits
combinations, which then are exported to different
countries around the world.
To help the indigenous population, we are
in most cases dealing directly
with the Kunas or Emberas.  At time
however, we are also dealing
with other native Panamanians
living in the Darien or Kuna
Yala province.  We are also
offering employment to
these people, where some of
them are working in our
production facility.
As these people have great needs,
we are helping them in
different areas of their lives.  For
instance, from time to time
we are collecting clothes which we
donate to different
members of their communities.  At other
times we have helped
them in small projects, such as buying
different components for
small electrical projects, and giving them the
required assistance.  We
have also put them in contact with foreign
investors who might be
interested in starting small tourism partnership
programs.
At this time the tourism infrastructure is very poor.  However, for those interested in helping, or
participating in other small projects, we would be delighted to put them in contact with members
of the Kuna Yala or Darien communities...  After all, it does not take much to make a difference
in someone’s life... Please share... FOR A BETTER WORLD...........
